Raiganj Feb 21: If New Delhi has gone silent at the moment probably after a series of protests against rape charges of a 16 year old girl in a running bus, cases of gang rape has not evaded in this part of the country.

If not a running bus, this time it was a stadium that the perpetrators chose to perform one of the bitter atrocities against women in the country. A fourteen year old minor girl was gang raped within the premises of Raiganj stadium last night. The stadium is in close proximity Raiganj District hospital.

Reportedly, the victim is a resident of Sishgram village in Raiganj and has been undergoing a treatment in the hospital. The victim’s farmer Nipen Sarmar is a farmer by profession.

Police acting immediately has arrested one Bablu Halder, a resident of Indira Colony in Raiganj. The victim, according to sources had visited Indira Colony to meet her elder sister who resides in the colony. A male friend of the victim who met her on the street reportedly took her to the corner of the stadium with an excuse to have a chat with her. Another two youths were already standing in the corner.

The three youths eventually forcefully raped the girl. The victim’s mother Dipali Sarkar today filed a complaint with the police stating that yesterday evening a youth had forcefully taken her daughter to the stadium who cited reasons that he had some emergency work with her daughter. “When my daughter reached there the youth along with his friends raped her,” stated Sarkar.

The doctors at Raiganj Hospital said that a medical test is being conducted to find out whether it is a case of rape. Police confirmed that Bablu Sarkar has been arrested while the other two accused has been absconding.
