Siliguri, Feb 2: A decomposed body of an
Industrialist Ganga Bisan Rathu from Nepal along with Chandra Chudal the
chairman of Shiv Sena was recovered at 9th mile in the Kurseong subdivision,
16 kms from Siliguri.
The duo reported to be close friends are
residents of Morang district under Biratnagar in neighbouring Nepal and were
kidnapped early in January from Siliguri. Rathi and Chudal had gone missing
ever since they reached Siliguri. The family of Rathi repeatedly got ransom
calls in which kidnappers demanded Rs. 3.5 cores. Later the kidnappers reduced
the ransom to Rs. 50 lakh on January 25. The family also paid the amount at
Uttarayon here. The family lodged an FIR with the Morang Police station in Nepal in
January 25.
The Nepal police at the start of the
case had doubted that Chudal had masterminded the kidnap of Rathi. On January
26, police arrested Surendra Mishra and Abhijit Bose when they were traveling
in Kolkata bound Darjeeling Mail from Bolpur station in Birbhum district. The
money was also recovered from them. A team of Nepal police was camping in
Siliguri. Surendra’s wife Manika is also arrested.
Anand Kumar the commissioner of police,
Siliguri said the duo were murdered in a very planned manner.
Kumar said during interrogation the
three arrested people told police that Chudal was murdered first on January 8
and Rathi was murdered on January 10. After Rathi was murdered the kidnappers
started making ransom calls.
