Gangtok March 21: The marriage of Maharaj Kumar of Sikkim and Miss Hope Cooke was solemnised here today. The bride wore a pure white brocade dress.

The twenty-two-year-old New York socialite, Miss Cooke, became Lachham Hop Namgyal — the future Queen of Sikkim — after the Red-hat Sect Lamas of this two thousand eight hundred square mile protectorate of India, tied her in sacred bonds of marriage with the 39-year-old Crown Prince of Sikkim, Gyalsay Rimpoche Palden Thoundup Namgyal.
At the wedding were present a distinguished gathering of Princes, and Nobles, Diplomats, Ministers and Journalists, besides the bulk of the two lakh population of this tiny Himalayan kingdom.
