With just born baby, mother appears for HS at primary centre


Raiganj March 18: She has just given birth to a girl child on Sunday. That was in the middle of the ongoing higher secondary examinations. But that has not deterred, Sumi Mahato the mother of the child to sway away from appearing at the examinations.
Sumi Mandal one of the examinees from Bhagilata Higher Secondary School from the Arts faculty is now appearing her examination at a primary block health centre guarded by teachers in a small room despite continuous treatment from the doctors.
“Both the mother and the child are sick at present and we are constantly checking her so that she can appear her exams properly,” said a doctor at the centre.
The families of Mandal informed the school authorities late yesterday evening that she gave birth to a new born baby and is sick. Thanks to the school authorities who immediately requested the district education office and arranged for her to appear the examinations at the primary centre. “The family informed me about the case yesterday after which I immediately informed the officials of the education board who arranged the exams at the primary centre,” said Saumitra Madak, the headmaster of the school.
Sumi however said that she is feeling unwell but despite that she is keen on appearing for her exams. “My family members wanted me to appear for the examinations next year but I would not want to do so. Ignoring all the difficulties I am appearing for my examination and I hope to do well,” she said.
