Raiganj March 18: She has just given
birth to a girl child on Sunday. That was in the middle of the ongoing higher
secondary examinations. But that has not deterred, Sumi Mahato the mother of
the child to sway away from appearing at the examinations.
Sumi Mandal one of the examinees from Bhagilata Higher Secondary School
from the Arts faculty is now appearing her examination at a primary block
health centre guarded by teachers in a small room despite continuous treatment
from the doctors.
“Both the mother and the child are sick
at present and we are constantly checking her so that she can appear her exams
properly,” said a doctor at the centre.
The families of Mandal informed the
school authorities late yesterday evening that she gave birth to a new born
baby and is sick. Thanks to the school authorities who immediately requested
the district education office and arranged for her to appear the examinations
at the primary centre. “The family informed me about the case yesterday after
which I immediately informed the officials of the education board who arranged
the exams at the primary centre,” said Saumitra Madak, the headmaster of the
school.
Sumi however said that she is feeling
unwell but despite that she is keen on appearing for her exams. “My family
members wanted me to appear for the examinations next year but I would not want
to do so. Ignoring all the difficulties I am appearing for my examination and I
hope to do well,” she said.
