Mother-daughter arrested for trafficking
Raiganj March 29: Trafficking in North Bengal continues in the hindsight despite ample
agencies including the government ones taking cue to curb the menace. In yet another
trafficking case police in Raiganj district arrested a mother and daughter
residents of Baraibari under Hemtabad Police station area last night for
charges against girl trafficking.
On March 27 the duo reportedly had lured two
girl students of Hemtabad, ferried them to Banshibari and handed over one of
the girl to brothels in exchange of money. It has also been alleged that the
girls were raped. Police in search of the two girls got hold of the duo along
with the two girls in a place near Buniadpur police station in south Dinajpur.

Das on the very day asked the two girls Gayetri Baiswa (11) a class V student
of Hemtabad Adarsha Vidhyapith and another Asari Barman (12), a class VII
student of Hemtabad junior Girls
Higher Secondary
School to go with them for some work to
Kushmandi. The duo instead of taking them to Kushmandi ferried them to
Banshihari police said.
“The parents of the students lodged a
complaint with the police yesterday afternoon in which she informed that the
mother daughter duo lured their daughters and ferried them to Banshihari. We
immediately informed out counterparts in South Dinajpur .
Along with their assistance, we arrested the duo from near Buniadpur rail
station,” said Krishendu Das, the officer incharge of Hemtabad Police Station.
